Wandering through the city on the loveliest of days, catching sight of a fountain that attracted ice cream lovers and children who enjoyed running through the spraying water, I wondered: If you love a foreign language, so much so that you find people more attractive who speak that language and that you always feel drawn to living in that linguistic environment - how long will it take till you find that it's the same life, just in a different language? Or is it a different one?
Had I decided to stay in the US, would the ordinariny nature of life and people have come through one day, taking away my blindfolds? Or would there always have been a gloss of something special?
How much is there to the saying that itchy feet come from roots too small?
